Straight Leg Raise

Commonly considered one of the fundamental exercises for any hip or knee workout, the straight leg raise can provide lots of information about the strength of your lower leg.  For example, can you correctly tighten your thigh muscle (Quad Squeeze) prior to lifting?  You should see your kneecap slide up towards your waist.  Also of note, can you keep your leg locked out perfectly straight or do you display an "extensor lag?"  This is a term that often refers to a slight bending of your knee during the lift. It's often times an indicator of poor thigh musculature strength or control.
